Vintage Black Elderberry Eau-de-Vie

This black elderberry is obtained from the dark, glossy berries of the shrub of the same name. In Tyrol, they are considered a healthful treasure to keep in the garden and, once distilled, are highly appreciated as a pleasant “eau-de-vie of health.”

This elderberry grows in Lower Austria under ideal climatic conditions and without the use of pesticides. Once harvested, the fully ripe berries are mashed directly by the fruit grower and then transported to the distillery.

To distill one liter of this rarity, up to 55 kg of berries are required, as the yield is naturally limited due to the fruit’s low sugar content. Over time it develops into a noble spirit with fine, complex fruity aromas: dark berries, spicy and smooth, with a delicate hint of dark chocolate.
